The Algarve Oncology Meetings 2026, held on 22 and 23 May at the Hotel Eva Senses in Faro, concluded with an extremely positive outcome, reinforcing their position as one of the region’s leading scientific forums for debate and knowledge sharing. The event brought together a wide community of healthcare professionals to discuss the latest clinical and therapeutic advances in the field of oncology.
Over two intensive days of scientific work, discussions focused on a wide range of topics related to cancer management, particularly in the areas of prostate, gynaecological, gastrointestinal, breast and lung cancers, as well as urothelial carcinoma. Specialists from various national and international institutions shared experiences, knowledge and new therapeutic perspectives, promoting a comprehensive and multidisciplinary scientific update.
In addition to the strictly clinical dimension, the meeting stood out for its strong emphasis on the multidisciplinary nature of oncology care. Sessions dedicated to oncology nursing, as well as to other professionals within the interdisciplinary team, highlighted the growing importance of integrated and personalised support for cancer patients.
The significance of nutrition, physical exercise and psychology was widely recognised as fundamental pillars for improving clinical outcomes, enhancing patients’ quality of life and supporting emotional well‑being throughout the therapeutic journey.
At the closing session, the organisers expressed their gratitude for the strong attendance and active participation of the professionals present, emphasising the success of an edition that successfully combined technological and medical innovation with the humanisation of healthcare, while also valuing the mental health and well‑being of healthcare professionals themselves.
